Course Aims:
Students have the opportunity to follow a new qualification where they can gain credits for future programmes. This level 2 qualification is aimed at students with the basic dressmaking knowledge and the use of a sewing machine.
Course Content:
Students will build on individual abilities to develop their understanding of commercial pattterns, fabrics, materials and equipment. All relevant Health & Safety procedures will be followed. The history of fashion, current trends and designers will be researched. This is an ideal programme for students who are keen to design and make their own clothes.
Progression:
NCFE or ABC Dressmaking Level 3. There are also a variety of Art & Design courses available within the Faculty.

Exam:
Assessment is informal and ongoing. Students will produce a portfolio of work showing completion/evidence of three mandatory units which are assessed by the tutor and verified by the moderator. Completion of a final major project.

4.5 hours a week for 30 weeks.
