A fun dressmaking course for the complete novice or those with very little sewing knowledge or confidence. Using the knowledge gained through this course, if time allows, you will make a simple garment.
About the Course
* Learn how to control a sewing machine using decorative sewing exercises
* Develop a basic understanding of a machine's functions
* Learn and practice basic sewing processes needed to produce a garment
* Begin and if time allows complete the chosen garment in a fabric of your choice.
Course Aims
To develop sewing skills and knowledge. By the end of the course beginners should have gained the knowledge and confidence to buy a pattern and make a simple garment.

How is the course assessed?
No formal assessment but continuous monitoring of progress by tutor.
Are there any resources to obtain?
Sewing machines will be available, however students will need a basic sewing kit including fabrics and threads. Detailed needs will be discussed at the first lesson. If you wish to bring your own sewing machines, it will be necessary to have it PAT tested by a college technician at a cost of £2. Two weeks notice is required.
