This training package leads up to the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) test as required by new drivers passing their car test since 1st January 1997 to drive a minibus or drivers wishing to operate a minibus on a hire and reward basis. A "training and testing" package can be carried out using a College vehicle or your vehicle (subject to conditions), with testing at one of the local DVSA test centres.

We have a range of package options varying in duration. These are usually adapted to suit, experience, single trainees or groups of up to 3 perhaps attending from one employer or company.

Commonly these are around 15 – 30 hours including the test appointment time and delivered if possible in a ‘block’. Candidates will be trained to the higher standards of driving and reversing skills demanded of the test.

This training is generally available throughout the year with extra charges made for weekends and bank holiday delivery

The DVSA test requirements are fairly intense and in order to pass you will be required to raise your driving skills to the PSV (Passenger Service Vehicle) level. The test lasts for approximately one and a half hours and will include you being competent in a number of set exercises.

Entry Criteria / Additional Information

Candidates must hold a current driving licence for a car. Before training with us candidates will need to have upgraded their driving licence to include the D1 category, have cleared a medical examination to drive a PCV and passed the PCV theory tests known as Module 1 before they can be taken out in the vehicle. They will then be ready to drive and prepare for the practical test, Module 3.

When passed, further Modules 2 and 4 may need to be taken to allow the driver to access a full PCV hire and reward licence. As candidates will have passed the required road test therefore allowing them to drive a vehicle to a test centre without passengers, we suggest that they use their own vehicle to carry this out as a cheaper option.

From June 8th 2015, you will only be required to bring to both the training and the DVSA test your plastic card driving licence, the paper counter part will no longer have any legal status. This check is now carried out online

To do this you will also need to provide your National Insurance number. Please make sure you know this or can bring it to the first session.
