Diploma to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector Level 5 (Assessor Route)
The DTLLS qualification is required for those carrying out a full teaching role and need to gain Qualified Teacher status (QTLS). You will also complete the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.
How is the training delivered?
You are allocated a mentor who will support you throughout the course and be available to answer any questions. They will contact you within 48 hours of registering to introduce themselves
Our DTLLS course is delivered through an online learning course (Moodle), consisting of virtual lessons, reading, questions and activities. Each module is covering a different aspect of the course and includes activities.
At the end of each unit there are specified assignments to complete, which are marked and internally moderated.
You will need to keep a log of 150 hours teaching, 3 hours of which will be observed by your mentor, and 5 need be observed by a colleague in your workplace. There is also a micro teach to attend, these are held locally throughout the UK. You will also complete practical assessments on 2 candidates, Bright provide the candidates if required.
Knowledge of relevant elements of minimum core is embedded within the coursework.
What happens afterwards?
Once you have completed DTLLS, it will enable you to be employed in a Full Teacher role and apply for Qualified Teacher Status (QTLS). You will also be qualified to assess within vocational qualifications.
How long does it take?
The total Guided Learning Hours for the DTLLS course is 360 plus 150 hours teaching. This is made up of Moodle, assignments as well as self study. The course length is 6-12 months. However you can complete it in your own pace. If you have already completed CTLLS Level 4 then you need an additional 120 hours teaching and just 5 observations completed by a colleague. The length is then 3-6 months
