Course programme
Early Childhood
The London college Early Childhood course has intakes for students twice a year, in September and February.
Entry procedures
Entry for graduates of the Foundation Certificate is through submission of a 1000 word essay, set and marked by MCI prior to entry.
Once accepted, you will be offered either an unconditional place at the college, which you have met all the entry requirements for your course entry, or a conditional place, which means that you should obtain a further qualification before beginning one of our courses. The most usual conditional place offer applies to students whose first language is not English and who require a Cambridge First Certificate or its equivalent.
Upon receiving your place offer letter you need to register on the course by sending in a completed registration form, together with the registration fee and deposit by the required deadline.
Course dates
Entry is in either September or February.
The course is studied in one academic year (two semesters) to Certificate Stage 2 level awarded upon successful completion of written coursework and final examinations. Total study time in college is 36 weeks (216 hours) supported by extensive home study.
There is a choice of study times
September intake students can study on either:
- Friday: 10 am - 5pm or
- Tuesday and Thursday evenings: 6 - 9pm
February intake students can study on either:
- Saturday: 9.30am - 4.30pm or
- Friday: 10 am - 5pm
Times and days of study are not interchangeable.
Teaching practice is not part of the course, but is optional after successful completion of the part time course. It comprises 420 hours in an approved Montessori nursery and has to be completed within three years of starting the course.
