This Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner (Early Years Educator) QCF is not approved for the use by those who are under 16 years of age. There are no formal entry requirements for learners undertaking this Diploma. However, learners must have the potential and opportunity to gain evidence for the qualification in the work place.

This qualification is compliant with the knowledge and practical skills criteria included in the Early Years Educator (Level 3): Qualifications Criteria published by the National College for Teaching & Leadership (July 2013). Learners will learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the Early Years sector.
The term children has been used throughout this qualification to include babies, toddlers and young children, from birth to 5 years and from conception to 7 years within the child development unit (401).
