Suitable for: This workshop is suitable for professionals and councelling/psychotherapy trainees alike, however a basic knowledge of TA theory is essential.

Course review:
This one day course will examine working with clients with eating disorders, with particular reference to Transactional Analysis (TA) theory.
The workshop will be a mixture of teaching, small group and experiential work, and discussion. Participants will be offered a variety of options for treatment planning and a range of models for thinking about eating disorders, both from within the body of TA literature and from elsewhere. The course will provide frameworks for thinking about the aetiology of eating disorders. Participants will be introduced the DSM diagnosis of eating disorders, and given the opportunity to explore some of the issues raised through experiential exercises and discussion.
Aims:
By the end of the workshop participants will:

- Be introduced to differential diagnosis of eating disorders
- Have increased awareness of the complexity of working with clients who present with these disorders
- Understand TA models for diagnosis and treatment.
About the Facilitator:
Alison Ayres TSTA is a Transactional Analysis Psychotherapist, supervisor and a trainer in Edinburgh. Alison works with Physis Training delivering the TA101, the Foundation Year training programme and the CTA Exam Preparation groups for more advanced students. Alison offers supervision for groups and individuals, and runs an on-going development group for trainers and supervisors. She maintains a small psychotherapy practice and has a particular interest in the complexity of issues presented when working with these clients.
