Course Aims:
**Please Note: This course has been designed to take into consideration those who wish to acquire ECDL certification in a relatively short amount of time. Condensed to 3 days per week, Mon, Tue & Wed from 9:30am 3:00pm, for 8 weeks. Bootcamp classes are only currently available at the colleges Formby and Waterloo sites.**
To enable candidates to obtain the ECDL Essentials (Level 1 Certificate for IT Users) & ECDL Extra (Level 2 Certificate for IT Users). ECDL certification provides an internationally recognised standard of competence, certifying that the holder has the knowledge and skills needed to use the most common computer applications efficiently and productively. The successful candidates will gain a benchmark qualification and enhance their career prospects.

Course Content:
The ECDL version 5 syllabus is designed to cover key concepts of computing, its practical applications and their use in the workplace and society in general. Certification is split into 2 parts comprising of the following modules, which together form a full level 2 qualification:
ECDL Essentials (Level 1 Certificate for IT Users) Level 1
- IT User Fundamentals
- Using Email and the Internet
- Security for IT Users
- ECDL Extra (Level 2 Certificate for IT Users) Level 2
- Word Processing
- Spreadsheet Software
- Presentation Software
- Improving Productivity Using IT

ECDL Advanced

Awarding Body:
The British Computer Society

Exam:
There is a 45 minute assessment for each module. A combination of internal and external on-line assessment exists.

Qualification:
Upon successful completion of ALL units candidates will receive:
ECDL Essentials (Level 1 Certificate for IT Users)
ECDL Extra (Level 2 Certificate for IT Users)

Entry Requirement
It is strongly recommended that candidates have current experience of using a computer and possess for example CLAIT, 2nd Steps or equivalent as a minimum entry requirement; candidates who do not possess any formal qualifications in IT, but have relevant industrial experience will also be considered; however these individuals will need to attend an interview. In addition, candidates are advised that due to the nature of the Bootcamp classes 100% attendance is an essential requirement.
