Course Aims:
To enable candidates to obtain the ECDL Essentials (Level 1 Certificate for IT Users), ECDL Extra (Level 2 Certificate for IT Users). ECDL certification provides an internationally recognised standard of competence, certifying that the holder has the knowledge and skills needed to use the most common computer applications efficiently and productively. The successful candidates will gain a benchmark qualification and enhance their career prospects.

Course Content:
The ECDL version 5 syllabus is designed to cover key concepts of computing, its practical applications and their use in the workplace and society in general. ECDL certification is split into 2 parts comprising of the following modules, which together form a full level 2 qualification:
ECDL Essentials (Level 1 Certificate for IT Users) Level 1
- IT User Fundamentals
- Using Email and the Internet
- Security for IT Users
- ECDL Extra (Level 2 Certificate for IT Users) Level 2
- Word Processing
- Spreadsheet Software
- Presentation Software
- Improving Productivity Using IT

Awarding Body:
The British Computer Society

Exam:
There is a 45 minute assessment for each module. A combination of internal and external on-line assessment exists.

Qualification:
Upon successful completion of ALL units candidates will receive the following certificates:
ECDL Essentials (Level 1 Certificate for IT Users)
ECDL Extra (Level 2 Certificate for IT Users)
