About this course

Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET qualification) is the first step in teacher training and this learning pathway can take you all the way to a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education). This is a nationally recognised teacher training course and at the end of this course you will be known as an “Associate Teacher” and able to teach at post-16 level.

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is an accredited qualification on the RQF framework, regulated by Ofqual and is suitable for individuals who wish to teach in the Further Education and Skills Sector and forms a foundation for those with little or no previous experience of teaching or training. This teaching training course can offer you fantastic career prospects and development opportunities and this course is a great place to begin.

This course is the first step in teacher training. It is a nationally recognised teacher training qualification and at the end of this course you will be known as an “Associate Teacher” and able to teach at post-16 level.

You don't need any prior skills in the subject area to start this course.

This qualification comes with NCFE CACHE Level 3 certification. That means that it is independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to Level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Accreditation by NCFE is a guarantee of quality. It means that this learning programme has been scrutinised and approved by an independent panel of experienced educational professionals and is quality audited biannually by NCFE.

(Unit 3 is aimed at preparing you for the micro-teach and as such it doesn’t have any assignments attached. Unit 3 is still required to complete the course.).

This course replaced the old PTTLS qualification in August 2014.

Assessment

There are 3 tutor marked assignments (TMAs), which are submitted and then marked by your tutor. You will not be required to take an external exam, however you will need to complete a short practical Micro-Teach as part of the qualification. This can be achieved by volunteering in a teaching environment.
