Course programme

Year 1

Courses are divided into modules. You will take modules totalling 180-190 credits.

Required Modules

You are required to take the following modules:

  • Learning, Participation & the Southbank Centre (30 credits)
  • The Arts, Culture & Education (30 credits)
  • Research Methods (30 credits)
  • Dissertation (60 credits)

If you are a part-time student, you will usually complete the Learning, Participation & the Southbank Centre and The Arts, Culture & Education modules in your first year. In your second year you will take Research Methods, your optional module and the Dissertation.

Optional Modules

You are required to take one module (worth 30 credits) from a range of optional modules that may typically include:

  • Recent Developments in Education Management (30 credits)
  • The Social Context of Education (30 credits)
  • Internship: Education in Arts & Cultural Settings (30 credits)
  • With the approval of the Programme Director, you may take 30-40 credits of relevant optional modules from another course in place of 30 credits from the list above.
