Edwardian Fiction

PRESENTATION

To provide aspiring writers of historical novels the opportunity to learn how to plan and how to write a historical novel or short story set in Edwardian Okehampton.

The workshop will be a mixture of supervised individual work, tutor directed lectures and pair or mini group work.

During the workshop you will have the opportunity to:

-Find out how to research an aspect of Edwardian Okehampton
-To discuss and experiment with the language, customs
and 'social markers' of the time such as clothing
-To write an outline plot
-To draft a biographical sketch of your main character or characters
-To experiment with descriptions and settings - What did it look like?How did it feel? What did it smell like?
-Discuss possible markets for your completed works
