Course Description
This course is intended for those seeking qualifications as Electronic Engineering Technicians. It is suitable for mature persons requiring retraining as well as school leavers. Students completing the course successfully are awarded the National Certificate in Electronic Engineering.

Preferred Entry Requirements
Standard Grades (grade 3 or above) plus preferably study of Mathematics at Higher Grade OR an appropriate range of SQA NC modules or NQ units. Entry by informal interview.

Year 1
Electrical Fundamentals; Electronic Components And Circuit Assembly Techniques; Mathematics: Analysis/Algebra 1; Core Mathematics 4; Semiconductor Applications: An Introduction; Single Phase Ac; Basic Electrical Plant Safety & Maintenance.

Year 2
Electrostatics; Combinational Logic; The Individual In Industry And Work; Electromagnetics; DC & AC Circuit Responses; Electronics Project; Network Analysis; Sequential Logic; Mathematics: Calculus A; Electronics Project; Power Factor Improvement and Three-Phase Theory.

Progression
Employment (at Technician level). HNC/HND courses.
