This course is made up of 17 units that combine practical tasks with high level theoretical understanding. Through completing these units you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your working knowledge in workshop/site safety, electrical principles, science and regulations.

About this course
By the end of your apprenticeship you will have achieved:
NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment; Functional Skill in ICT Level 2 (if required); Employee Rights and Responsibilities; Personal Learning and Thinking Skills.
On successful completion of the Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Electrical Installation, an apprentice will have the skills, knowledge and qualifications to:
Register on an appropriate Certification Scheme;
Progress to relevant Level 4/5 qualifications e.g. Building Services Engineering Technology & Project Management or Foundation Degree in Engineering;
Progress in their career;
With further training progress into job roles such as Technician, System Designer, Estimator, Project/Contracts Manager, Site/Workshop Supervisor/Manager, Chartered Engineer, Sales Engineer or Commercial Manager.
GCSE Maths Grade C or Functional Skill in Maths Level 2; GCSE English Language Grade C or Functional Skill in English Level 2; GCSE ICT Grade C or Functional Skill in ICT Level 2; Working in a job role such as Installation Electrician, Maintenance Electrician working a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Course programme
Throughout the course you will study the following topics:
- Health and Safety;
- Environmental Legislation;
- Electrical Science;
- Overseeing and Organising the Work Environment;
- Planning and Selection;
- Preparation and Installation;
- Termination and Connection;
- Inspection, Testing & Fault Finding.
You will complete computer based assessments set throughout the year. Additionally learners can be assessed by a range of methods including; Direct observation of tasks or activities, examination of work products produced by learners (e.g. diary notes, site notes, completed reports), examination of witness testimonies from people, other than the assessor, who are prepared to provide statements detailing specific details of learners’ performance, review of records of ‘question and answer’ sessions covering specific aspects of the knowledge and understanding and Professional discussion. All of these assessment methods will build your portfolio of evidence.
