This course is the minimum first aid requirement for new Child Care staff working in regulated childcare settings. The qualification allows the holder to be included in the adult-child ratio as per both the Childminder and Group Settings versions of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and is therefore the qualification accepted by OFSTED when inspecting registered childcare settings.
EYFS and thus OFSTED requirements require at least one person who has a current full paediatric first aid certificate must be present at the Setting and available at all times when children are present, and must accompany children on outings. Childminders, and any assistant who might be in sole charge of the children for any period of time, must hold a current full paediatric first aid certificate. Details of the Paediatric First Aid course is located here.
