Course review:
This is an update with regards to the situation here at BCU and indeed to inform you that we do intend to run an EMT to Paramedic course commencing 5th September 2011.The course is a Foundation Degree in Paramedic science which is approved by the HPC and will leave successful students eligible for application to the HPC register. The course start date is September 5th 2011 where students will be required to attend for one day only to have a look around the campus and become enrolled. After that one day the next date of attendance at the university is not until the 31st of October when we will begin the first 4 week teaching block.
The first two months, i.e. September and October are for students to undertake a distance learning module in preparation for the start of university study. We are offering the course at a discounted price for this academic year for the last time. Normally, Health studies courses cost £7500 but we are running this for the last year at £4000. Entry qualification for this course is strictly IHCD EMT qualification, enhanced CRB and health screening.
Have listened to many independent sector EMTs who have found access to Paramedic training impossible or extortionately priced and where the student has had to take extended periods of time off work to complete the qualification. This route at BCU is at last a solution to that problem at a realistic price.
There will be another course starting in February of next year.
Dear Colleagues
Our new DipHE Paramedic Science programme has been approved by the HPC and we are now planning to run the new programme later this year.
We have a provisional start date for the 22nd October 2012 and the cost will be £7500 which you can use a student loan to pay for and you may be able to get other student finance support depending on personal circumstances.
Because this is a new DipHE the way the course runs will be slightly different from the old Foundation Degree. Let me explain...
