Course Aims:
The course aims to provide learners with a good grounding into the Engineering industry by ensuring an understanding of engineering processes and principles. This consists of practical and theory sessions which cover Health & Safety, CAD, sheet metal & welding, and machining processes.
Course Content:
You will study a range of subject areas, including:
Working Safely in an Engineering Environment
Working Efficiently and Effectively in Engineering
Using and Communicating Technical Information
Producing Components using Hand Fitting Techniques
Preparing and Using lathes for Turning Operations
Producing Sheet Metal Components and Assemblies
Progression:
On successful completion of the course you may progress on to a related level 3 course, such as Certificate in Engineering or the National Diploma in Engineering.

City & Guilds
Exam:
There are no formal exams. You will be assessed continuously throughout the course, and build a prtfolio of evidence around practical and product work.
Qualification:
Performing Engineering Operations NVQ level 2 (City & Guilds 2251)

Professional Appearance:
You will need steel toe capped boots and blue overalls.
Duration:
32 weeks (1 academic year)
