2. Course description An advanced and broad-ranging course to prepare budding engineers for a successful career ; The aim of this two year course is to prepare you for employment in the engineering sector, higher education at university or as part of the modern Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme., , It provides practical and theoretical skills in electrical and mechanical units. You will study mathematics, science, electronics, manufacturing technology, design and computer aided design (CAD), and you will complete a practical project unit with a portfolio of evidence. Mechanical, electronic, design and applied mechanical/electronic units will also be covered giving a well-rounded programme of study across the main engineering disciplines., , Additionally you'll visit local companies to see engineering in action, take part in dedicated taster sessions at the University of Portsmouth and experience a unique behind-the-scenes educational session at Thorpe Park. In year two you will have the opportunity to complete work experience with a local engineering company., , The course is taught as practically as possible within the electronic laboratory and mechanical workshop, supported by assignment work covered within the classroom., , On completion of the two year course, you may apply for a HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical or Electronics Engineering. Other Engineering degrees such as Civil Engineering, Product Design, Motor Sport Engineering or Marine Engineering accept this course as an entry qualification.,
