Engineering Training Centre (formally known as Rolls-Royce North East Training Centre or RRNETC) is an approved training provider based in Newcastle upon Tyne, offering apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeship training in mechanical, fabrication, electrical and general engineering, at NVQ levels 2 and 3. The training centre is located within Michell Bearings, Newcastle upon Tyne, part of the British Engines Group.

The Engineering Training Centre was founded over 100 years ago as an apprentice training school for the Vickers Armstrong Armaments Factory, training only the company’s apprentices. Since then, it has evolved into its present form, training apprentices and adults for the engineering community at large. We have a very diverse client base of companies in the North East ranging in size from major international organisations to local small engineering enterprises.
Our instructional staff are all qualified assessors and/or internal verifiers. They deliver training and advice consistent with the latest technology and practices adopted by the modern manufacturing industry and adhere to the stringent requirements of the qualification awarding bodies.
Our mission is to support local businesses in employing apprentices, by delivering exceptional training to help young people achieve full time employment within engineering, with all of the associated vocational and academic qualifications necessary to start a successful career.

We offer a wide range of training in mechanical, electrical, maintenance, sheet metal and fabrication skills to Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications. Our main centre of operation is a self contained engineering training workshop with computer suites and lecture facilities.

We provide a quality training service for adult workers. In the workplace, we can provide engineering training and employee qualifications at Level 2 and Level 3 for your existing employees either at the Engineering Training Centre and/or on individual company premises.
