Year 1:

  • Approaches to Poetry and
  • Approaches to Shakespeare or Contemporary Writing or Introduction to Old English
  • Studying Written Texts
  • One unit from:

- Epic
- History of Thought
- Greek and Roman Drama or Greek or Latin Language

  • Option topic

Year 2:

  • Literature 1 (1200-1500) followed by Literature 2 (1500-1700) or
  • Literature 1 (1200-1500) followed by special subject or
  • Special subject followed by Literature 2 (1500 - 1700)
  • The Classical Legacy
  • One unit from:

- Epic
- History of Thought
- Greek and Roman Drama or Greek or Latin Language

  • Option topic

Year 3:

  • Literature 3 (1700-1830) followed by Literature 4 (1830-1945) or
  • Literature 3 (1700-1830) followed by special subject or dissertation or
  • Special subject followed by Literature 4 (1830 -1945)
  • Two minor special subjects plus dissertation or major special subject plus dissertation
