3. Entry requirements English Language GCSE grade 3 (grade D). If you achieve below a grade 3 at GCSE, then you will be required to study a Functional Skills Literacy Certificate at Level 1 or Level 2 instead. 4. Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method Controlled assessment (written and spoken elements) and exams (one exam, 2 hours and 15 minutes). Regular tests and practice of past papers completed to monitor progress. Homework will consist of planning controlled assessment tasks, research and past paper completion. Please note all controlled assessment writing is completed in class and students are not allowed to take the work home to improve, in line with exam board requirements.
