What will I learn?

You will look at many texts, including Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, the poetry of Seamus Heaney, Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, various plays and other material You will be learning about literary points of view, characterisation, narrative structure, poetic voices, generic features, audience interpretations, depictions of time and place in literature, how literature depicts societies and their values, and more

How will I be assessed?

In the first year, you will not do any coursework but will sit two exams In the second year, there are two exams and a 2,500 to 3,000 word personal investigation where you will investigate, explore and evaluate a particular theory or theme in language and literature

What may it lead to?

This qualification (combined with other A Levels) can lead to higher-level studies in English, media, journalism, film Employers look highly upon students with the clear and crafted communication skills developed on this course

You need GCSE English Language at grade B or above, and four other GCSEs at grade C or above
