Are you the sort of person who loves to read? Do you enjoy producing your own writing, such as blogs or poetry? If you take a book or e-reader everywhere with you or you can’t resist picking up The Metro or leafing through a magazine, then this is the course for you. You will have the opportunity to explore literature – poetry, prose and drama – and the language choices writers make to guide their readers’ responses. You will also have the chance to put some of what you learn to practical use by producing your own written pieces. You will get the most out of AS level English Language and Literature if you enjoy talking about writers’ ideas and techniques, are excited by the chance to read fiction and non-fiction that is outside the mainstream, and have a burning desire to improve your own creative writing skills.
