Course programme
The upper intermediate course is for students who have learned English for several years but need more practice in using grammar accurately and need further practice in all skills.
What modules are covered?In the class you will learn and practise:*structures such as the conditionals, reported speech *vocabulary for a variety of situations *functional language, such as negotiating *correct pronunciation *Discussion skills and presentation skills *Listening to a variety of speakers in different situations *Reading a range of texts intensively and extensively such as newspapers *Writing formal letters, articles, reports, summaries
What qualifications will I get?First Certificate in English (FCE)
How will I be assessed?There will be regular tests to assess your progress and moving to a higher level will depend on the results you get.
What is the entry process?In house assessment.
What are the entry requirements?Minimum qualifications: no qualfications

What else do I need to know?The FCE exam costs £95 at the Brasshouse Language Centre in Birmingham city centre. (This is the nearest test centre).
This course runs from the 7th September 2015 until the 1st July 2016. Students can enrol at any time during these dates and they can study for as long as they want.
The running of this course is subject to student numbers.
The minimum age for this course is 16.
Your lessons will consist of revision and presentation language, followed by intensive work in pairs and groups to maximise practice. If you want to make progress you will need to participate in every activity. The teachers will use a variety of materials, including off-air videos, newspaper articles and past examination papers. There will be writing practice in class as well as written homework.
