Description

An initial assessment will identify where you are now. Then you will have a diagnostic assessment and agree your individual targets with your tutor. When you have achieved the targets you will discuss this with your tutor and agree new targets. You will receive regular feedback from your tutor on all areas of your work. At the end of the course a new diagnostic assessment will take place for. Suitable for people who feel they have missed out at school and would like to 'brush up' or 'get to grip' with their English for work, home or study.

Who is this course for?
For people who feel they have missed out at school and would like to 'brush up' or 'get to grip' with their English for work, home or study.

None

What will the course cover and what can I expect to do by the end of it?
An initial assessment will identify where you are now. Then you will have a diagnostic assessment and agree your individual targets with your tutor. When you have achieved the targets you will discuss this with your tutor and agree new targets. You will receive regular feedback from your tutor on all areas of your work. At the end of the course a new diagnostic assessment will take place for you to chart the progress you have made. If you take external tests this show your progress and achievement.

What teaching and learning methods will be used on the course?
You will be taught small groups, pair work and individual work. You will be shown ways of integrating your learning outside the classroom. Regular homework will be set.

How will we assess your progress on the course?
There are a variety of progression routes. You can either work towards a higher level of study such as GCSE English or join another course in the college. Your tutor will advise you at the end of the course.
