Areas of study

In English literature the first year will focus on literature in various genres - drama, poetry, the novel - and on different ways of reading texts. The course then extends to explore historical, contextual and cross-cultural approaches to literature. You will look at literature in translation as well as writings from the 'New World' and the former colonies. In your final semester you will write a project where you will be given the opportunity to draw on the expertise developed during your course. Creative writing is available as an option at both introductory and advanced stages.
