About this course
You can do well with little previous knowledge of geography or biology; but GCSE grade C Science would be an advantage. Interest in the subject and a number of GCSEs grade C and above will be sufficient.

About the Course
AS Level
* The Living Environment, which includes life on earth, wildlife conservation, life processes in the biosphere and land resources.
* The Physical Environment, which includes the atmosphere, the hydrosphere and the lithosphere.
These units blend together aspects of geography and biology and include topics such as the greenhouse effect, global climate change, the nature of rocks, soils and minerals, ecosystems, population growth, biodiversity, conservation and the use and misuse of biotic and physical resources. Throughout the course practical skills will be developed through field visits and data collection.
A2 Level
* Energy Resources and Environmental Pollution.
* Biological Resources and Sustainability, which includes food production from land and water, forestry and sustainable life styles.

How is the course assessed?
Assessment is by written modular examinations, containing a variety of short answers and structured questions. There is no coursework.
Fees
No Course Fees for Under 19's. Over 19's must pay, or claim Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement for FREE courses .
What next?
An increasing number of businesses and industries employ people to advise them on environmental issues. Jobs with more direct connections include agriculture, forestry, conservation, tourism, town and country planning and travel. To carry on with the subject at university you should do a supporting science: AS/A2 level Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
