ERGONOMICS AND MOVING AND HANDLING
Course Content & Certificate
The course is designed for either administrative, clerical, and managerial staff, or, manual staff working in caring settings.
Theory: health and safety law – risk assessment – responsibilities of employers, staff, and volunteers – basic anatomy, physiology, nature of injury – workstation seating and design (admin only) – use of small handling equipment (manual only).
Practical: safe handling of small loads – safe working procedures (both admin only); moving and handling of loads (manual only).
Successful completion of the course gives a Training for Care certificate of
training which meets statutory requirements for risk reduction.
Tutors and Teaching
Tutors are TfC professional associates or staff members, care sector
experienced, and qualified in moving and handling.
Teaching is interactive and practical, and incorporates a problem solving
approach to moving and handling issues.
