English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
Who is it for?
Is your employee’s English up to the standard required for their job? Would you benefit from having a more proficient user of English working for you?
ESOL is for native speakers of other languages who need to use English in their working life.
Nene Learning has funding available for ESOL classes for businesses and organisations, which means you could develop the skills of your staff at no cost.
How is it delivered?
At Nene Learning we recognise that different learners have different abilities in different areas of English. We therefore begin all learning with an initial needs and skills assessment to ascertain what areas of English the learner needs to develop. Learners can then enter different modes - speaking, writing, reading and listening - at different levels according to their level of proficiency.
Our ESOL courses are classroom based and last for approximately 12 weeks. Candidates will encounter topics in the tests which are both familiar and relevant to them as learners of English.
Topics may include:
- Personal details/experiences
- Family and friends
- UK society
- Buying goods
What will you gain?
You will gain an employee who is more confident and motivated, who will be able to communicate their ideas and understand their role more effectively. Your employee will be able to use their new skills to engage more productively with their role, thereby helping your organisation become more productive.
Benefit to learners:
- Nationally recognised qualification
- Improved communication and reading skills
- Increased confidence
- Benefit to employers:
- Fewer errors and waste, more productivity
- Better understanding of instructions and health and safety rules
- More motivated staff
