Who is this course for?

You may be planning a career in ICT which may include plans to continue studying ICT at university. You will be interested in using computer applications, but also be interested in acquiring technical skills such as networking and programming.

What qualifications or experience do I need ?

" Minimum ESOL Entry 3 qualification " Some practical IT skills As part of the interview you will have to complete a language assessment test

What will I study ?

You will study a mixture of compulsory / core units and specialist units from a wide range of disciplines. Students will study ten units, including: " Learning from Work Placement " Investigating Rights and Responsibilities at Work " Website Software " Imaging Software " IT Communication Fundamentals In addition to studying vocational units students will have 7 hours communication, including a tutorial of 1 hour. Students also have minimum of 1 hour of Functional Skills Maths a week.

How will I be assessed ?

All units are assessed through coursework. You are required to achieve a minimum of a pass grade in all units.

Initial assessment and a satisfactory interview, demonstrating an interest in the subject. We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated people who are able to fully commit to this course for the whole year

Further Information

There will be a mixture of theory and practical classes. This course is taught mainly through a hands-on approach. Demonstrations and handouts will support practical tasks for you to do in the class and through your own studies at home. In addition there will be a work placement opportunity for you to apply your skills. All ICT classes take place in well-equipped computer rooms using current computers and software. Communication lessons focus on reading, writing and speaking skills as well as supporting students with their assignments. Students will also study for a qualification in Personal and Social Development We expect 100% attendance and punctuality from our students. If your attendance or punctuality falls below 85%, you will be subject to the College's disciplinary procedure.
