To enable learners to plaster to a professional standard either for their own use or before embarking upon an industry recognised qualification. Suitable for: Anyone who wishes to plaster to a professional level but has little or no previous experience of plastering, or tradesmen who are sometimes faced with plastering situations while carrying out their own work.

Course programme

2 nights per week (Tuesday and Wednesday) for 5 weeks

Subjects Covered
Health and Safety explained.

  • The correct method of measuring and cutting plasterboard.
  • The correct method of fixing plasterboard.
  • Applying tape and scrim to plasterboard joints.
  • Correct methods of cutting and fixing angle beads.
  • Correct methods of mixing plaster.
  • Skimming and finishing to a smooth finish ready for decoration.
  • Invisible repairing of damaged plasterboards (walls and ceilings).
  • Applying a sand and cement render coat or backing plaster to a brick or block wall ensuring a flat,plumb and level surface.
  • Tools and equipment explained and demonstrated.
  • Plaster products explained.


Health and Safety:
Safety while on this course is paramount, this is a hands on, practical course and it is essential you bring your own safety boots, (steel toe cap if possible). It is also recommended that you bring with you overalls or a change of clothing. Any other safety equipment required will be provided.
All materials, tools and equipment are provided throughout the duration of your training.

Additional information

This course is suitable for anyone with either no knowledge or with some knowledge.  Each learner has their own work bay.  The course can be tailored to suit the individual needs and learners can work at their own pace and on any area they need extra help with.
This course is held on a Tuesday and Wednesday night.
