Silver Package - Category I & II. Suitable for: This course is aimed at engineers working within the refirgeration industry who will require certification in category I & II. This qualification is accredited by City & Guilds and is designed to enable refrigeration engineers to meet legal requirements in relation to the qualificatins required to work with Fluorinated Greenhouse Gasses, otherwise know as F Gasses. The F Gas Regulations have been put in place by DEFRA to help EC countries meet the Kyoto protocol targets.

Course programme
This comprehensive package comprises three components;
- Sit the online GOLA test of theoretical knowledge.
- Undertake the practical assessment.
The GOLA test of theoretical knowledge and the practical assessment will take no more than a half-day so by choosing our nearest branch office to you will mean no more than one day away from your workplace.
The GOLA test and practical assessment will test your knowledge and competence in a number of areas, including;
City & Guilds 2079 – F-Gas Certification
What is involved in the practical assessment?
For Categories 1 and 2 the candidate must provide evidence of ability to:
- Identify states of refrigerant i.e saturated, superheated, sub-cooled
- Identify common refrigerants
- Carry out safe brazing techniques
- Charge refrigerants
- Carry out leak testing
- Pressure test
- Evacuate systems
- Select appropriate PPE
- Maintain appropriate records
What is involved in the theoretical assessment?
· Units of temperature, pressure, mass density and enthalpy
· Basic theory/thermodynamics including basic vapour compression cycle, states of refrigerant, refrigerant blends and operating conditions
· Monitoring system performance for indications that leakage has occurred
· Knowledge of climate change and the Kyoto Protocol
· Equipment records/commissioning data requirements
· Identification potential leakage points of refrigeration/air conditioning and heat pump equipment
· Handling, storage, transportation and disposal of contaminated refrigerant and oil
· Functions of and reports on the state/condition of expansion valves and capillary tube restrictors
· HCFC gases and potential for Ozone depletion
· Hazards associated with release of refrigerant gases
