You will read, analyse and discuss long and short fictions from all over the world.In today's changing political climate, acclaimed writers are turning, increasingly, to looking at the realities of their times in a variety of literary forms and reaching out to audiences all over the world with storiesof internal strife and the search for moral integrity.

There will be a mixture of tutor input and class discussion.

Course programme
We will read and discuss a range of books in English and in translation: Mohsin Hamid's novel, Exit West, which imagines a future in which refugees continue to brave the hazards of transcontinental travel in search of safer lives; Mirza Waheed's The Book of Gold Leaves, sets a tragic love story against the troubled backdrop of Kashmir. Arundhati Roy's Ministry of Utmost Happiness and Han Kang's The Vegetarian tell universal stories of experiences grounded in the particular experience of contemporary India and Korea.
