This course encourages appreciation of the mixed media application of monoprint and intaglio printmaking processes whilst introducing basic printmaking techniques. You will explore line, tone and texture using a variety of materials to produce images.

- Make drypoint and monotype images
- Make etchings using hard and soft grounds.
- Apply aquatints
- Print plates/blocks in both monochrome and colour using intaglio and relief processes.
- Develop images by experimenting with collage and colour printing techniques
- Use the print room equipment safely and effectively.

Course programme
Taking an image/idea of your choice as a starting point, you will be introduced to monoprinting, drypoint etching processes using a step-by-step approach. Using these processes, you will create plates and develop images using a variety of techniques in both monochrome and colour.
Through demonstrations and practical assignments, individual tutoring and group discussion. Basic materials will be provided. Please bring sketches, photographs or other visual resources as a starting point to the first session.Additional information
