This a one year full time course designed for those who are over 18 years of age and who may not have the appropriate qualifications for direct entry to a BEng or BSc Degree programme at the University of Hertfordshire, or older students who have followed a vocational route in engineering and now wish to return to education to seek a change in career path through an engineering degree route.

Course programme

This course will cover the following topics over two semesters of 13 teaching weeks: Semester 1 covers Mathematics 1, Engineering Science, Digital and Software Applications in Engineering, and Engineering Studies and Skills. Semester 2 covers Mathematics 2, Mechanical Science, Electrical Science and Digital Technology, Engineering Project. Engineering Studies & Skills and the Engineering Project are taught at the University, which give students a taster of university study whilst at college. You will spend four days a week at Barnet and Southgate College, plus a day at the University.
