The two-year Extended Diploma in Fashion Business & Retail at UCA Epsom will provide you with an introduction to the business and retail world of fashion taught in a university environment.

Open to students aged 16 and over with a fashion, business or management interest, you’ll explore the fashion retail world and learn about the business through practical and theoretical projects, supporting your personal progression and helping you develop your skills.

From global supply chains to merchandising and media marketing, you’ll learn about the business of fashion and retail, how to time manage, solve complex problems as well as take responsibility for development and research. You’ll have full access to our industry-standard facilities where you’ll work with other students and professionally trained academics and technicians with backgrounds in the business, retail, fashion and design industries and experience working with major brands.

About this course

In your first year you’ll learn about the business of fashion and how technology, marketing and the retail process come together. You’ll gain valuable knowledge through visits, collaborative projects and individual study. During your second year, you’ll progressively specialise in an area that interests you where you’ll have the freedom to develop ideas and discover your personal strengths and abilities to present ideas confidently. Most students will undertake a short placement to foster vocational and personal skills.

You’ll have the opportunity at the end of your second year to progress to one of a number of related degree courses at UCA with the skills you have learned or you may decide to choose an exciting career path in the fashion retail and business industry

UCA offers students several popular fashion and business related degree courses that help you make industry connections, where you’ll work with top fashion designers and brands through our work experience placements. Previous UCA graduates have been offered positions at Balenciaga, Stella McCartney and Burberry.

    You’ll research factors influencing the fashion and retail business as well as buying, garment production, the global supply chain and technologies used in the sector.

  • Explore visual merchandising

    You’ll explore visual merchandising for fashion retail in-store and online, and study the important sales process within the industry

    You’ll develop a range practical and digital skills through project work providing you with further insight to your own interests and strengths.

    You’ll research the environmental impact of global supply chains and markets exploring solutions to sustainability and ethical issues.

  • Final major project
