This course is suitable for 16 - 18 year old students who have previously completed the BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Health and Social Care (at school or in college) and would like to complete the additional units required to achieve a full BTEC Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care. All applicants must undertake an interview and apply for DBS clearance to demonstrate that they do not have a criminal background which might prevent them from working with young people or vulnerable adults.

About this course
You will need to have achieved the BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Health and Social Care (6 Units) to at least a Merit grade. Learners who wish to progress to University will need to have a GCSE in Maths and English. For Nursing you will also be required to have GCSE Science. You may have the opportunity to complete a GCSE at Northumberland College alongside your BTEC Extended Diploma course.
EDEXCEL Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care (QCF) Level 3.

What will I study on the course?
You will study exciting units including:
- managing challenging behaviour

You will produce a portfolio of assignments and work products which will demonstrate that you are able to apply theory to practice. You will also be required to complete practical placement in health and social care environments.
