To gain competence in Textile Decoration creating modern and traditional designs. Learn how to use colour creatively and apply it to textiles using a variety of techniques. Students can create their own chosen products including wall hangings.

There are no formal requirements apart from an enthusiasm for the subject. Students will be provided with a list of materials needed during the first session.

Course Aims:
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the design process, how to research and take design ideas through to development and final craft. To gain competence in Textile Decoration creating modern and traditional designs. Learn how to use colour creatively and apply it to textiles using a variety of techniques. Students can create their own chosen products including wall hangings, Fabric Painted panels, soft-furnishings or fashion articles
Course Content:
To decorate fabric using a variety of skills such as silk painting, stencilling, fabric painting, marbling, block printing, embroidery, batik etc. Basic design principles and colour theory will also be covered.
Safety, identification, equipment and tools and equipment and material, design, shape, colour and texture will be covered.
In friendly groups you can work at your own pace with tutors demonstrations, help and guidance

There are a variety of Art & Design part time course across the Faculty.

Each student will be expected to keep a folder for handout sheets, research and student planning and preparation for their project work.
Assessment is informal and ongoing. Students will produce a portfolio of work showing completion / evidence of three mandatory units which are assessed by the tutor and verified by an external ncfe moderator.
