Entry Requirements
Apprenticeships are open to anyone over the age of 16, whether they have just left school or have been working for years. Ideally, candidates will already have their Level 2 in Fabrication and Welding.
In order to enrol onto an Apprenticeship, you need to be employed in a relevant job role and undertake a range of tasks which would enable you to complete the Apprenticeship qualification.

Summary
This Apprenticeship is ideal for developing skills and knowledge whilst working within the fast-paced world of Engineering. This qualification offers the unique opportunity to earn and learn in this sector. Real work experience, which is personalised to each learner’s aspirations and interests, is integrated into the programme. To achieve this Apprenticeship the apprentice must obtain all mandatory units and additional optional units.
Course Content includes:
Mandatory units
- Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements
- Using and interpreting engineering data and documentation
- Working efficiently and effectively in engineering
- Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace (10 credits)
- Communications for Engineering Technicians (10 credits)
- Engineering Project (20 credits)
- Mathematics for Engineering Technicians (10 credits)
Optional units
- Producing components using hand fitting techniques
- Producing mechanical assemblies
- Maintaining electrical equipment/systems
You will complete Level 3 Advanced Fabrication and Welding as part of this Apprenticeship.
- This Apprenticeship will involve college attendance and off the job training.
- You will also develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours.
- You need to have an employer to support your Apprenticeship and be employed in a relevant job role.
- The typical length of this Apprenticeship course is 24-36 months.
