Course programme
By the end of this event, you will:
- Know how to increase the effectiveness of team collaboration
- Understand how to exploit your peers'' contributions and unique perspectives
- Be able to analyse how your communication styles are helping or hindering your ability to work as a team
- Know how you manage conflict and change under pressure
- Create personal learning plans for improving yourself and your team
While the overall task might be unusual, the skills that you have to practise through the day will be familiar. Negotiation and influencing, assertiveness, handling conflict, acknowledging each other and listening - all of these and more come straight out once the clock starts running.
Just how does your team decide what style of music they want and what lyrics to write? How do they come to decisions? To what extent do they collaborate, or use the expertise they have within the team?
We build in further twists by providing a ''budget'' of 10 Matchett pounds, with which you have to purchase resources at an auction. You''ll have to control the budget, as you can''t record if you are overspent. How well do you handle the bank manager and the taxman, who has a nasty knack of changing his mind on tax policy? How do you cope with an ''All Change'' exercise at lunch-time when you lose a team member and gain a new one?
At the end of the day we review all the CD''s and the teams vote on a winner.
As with all our team events our skilled facilitators play an integral part in this exciting learning experience. They will help the team to review how well it co-ordinated its efforts, how effectively people performed in their roles and the ways in which they communicated and met the challenges faced. They will then review with the team the implication of the behaviours back at work.
