Innovation for the fashion system, one of the key sectors of the Italian economy, doesn’t depend only on product innovations, but the role that new digital technologies have applied to design and production processes is increasingly crucial. Industry 4.0, or smart manufacturing, is called the fourth industrial revolution because it can substantially redefine the way in which designers and companies work and respond to the changing needs of the market and consumers.
Thanks to the participation of professors and professionals of the field, the "Fashion 4.0" course faces up to the themes dedicated to new digital technologies applied to the fashion industry processes aimed at supporting all phases of the creative and production process, from design to 3D printing.
Industry 4.0, the trend that will most influence the future of the fashion economy, is configured as the tool to revise the traditional production processes, renewing them and helping to increase the competitiveness of Italian fashion companies.

About this course
The course aims to prepare students for the world of work through the development of projects whose briefs are set and formulated similarly to those in the forefront of the industry.
The course aims to train professionals able to manage the different phases of the design process in the fashion product in an innovative way.
The preliminary objective of the course is to provide students with useful knowledge to use virtual scanning tools, 3D design software and production technologies through additive printing applied to the sector. The ultimate goal is to be able to digitally design fashion products and manage modeling and production processes.
Today digital technologies are increasingly used in many production sectors and are profoundly changing the entire supply chain. Their application to the field of fashion is a reality. The new designers must adapt to the change taking place: today designing means not only having creativity, but also knowing how to use the right tools. This course allows you to develop useful skills for working in the fashion industry 4.0.
In order to apply for the admission to the course, the candidate must have a good knowledge of Illustrator software, Photoshop and the Adobe package and digital modeling software.
At the end of the course a MFI certificate is delivered to each student.
The course will be carried out through theorical lessons, a workshop for the digital design of a fashion accessory and a workshop for 3D printing.

Courses
The course is structured in 4 modules:
Module 1: Fashion System in the Digital Era
The Fashion System
The course is dedicated to the analysis of the fashion system, through historical-analytical references and to the description of the best contemporary case studies.
Designing Fashion
Designing Fashion aims to provide the theoretical basis for the development of creative projects in the field of fashion, from the ideation and concept phase to that of prototype development.
Module 2: Digital Tools for Fashion
Graphics and Digital Presentation
The graphic course will allow students to acquire theoretical knowledge and learn the technical tools of digital graphics in order to illustrate, present and enhance the project.
Digital Modelling and Automated Manufacturing
The course of Digital Modeling and Automated Manufacturing is dedicated to the deepening of the main CAD software tools for fashion. At the end of the course the student will be able to combine analog creative methods with the use of digital design tools, through a constant interaction between traditional process and new CAD technologies.
Module 3:
Project Workshop
Students will have the opportunity to apply creatively what they have learned in the previous modules through the design of an individual project.
Module 4:
Digital Prototyping Workshop
The course ends with a digital prototyping workshop through 3D printing or laser cutting of details of your project or in its entirety, if technically possible.
Teaching Model
The educational model is composed as follows:
- Theoretical lessons in the classroom
- Exercises
- Project and Prototyping Workshops
Traditional in classroom lectures are alternated with case discussions, meetings with professionals of the sector, classroom exercise activities and design workshops.

A reduction of the economic value equal to the 20% for Students and Alumni MFI is provided, while seats last. The Course is in Italian.
During the whole course an Italian - English bilingual Teaching Assistant is available for foreign students during the project and print workshops.
