Course programme
This contemporary fashion media styling course looks at the current fashion image and the day-to-day working life of a fashion stylist. You will learn about the different types of contemporary fashion image, key industry creatives, how and where to find inspiration, interpreting a style brief, and put together a mood board - spending the last day shooting your work with a professional photographer.
The course includes:
- History of the fashion stylist
- Who are the key figures influencing fashion right now? Fashion photographers, stylists, and magazines
- The roles of the stylist in contemporary fashion media
- A practical guide and tips for working as a fashion stylist and preparing shoots
- How to communicate with different professionals within the fashion industry (Editors, PRs, Model Agencies…)
- A guide to researching and pitching contemporary fashion editorial concepts
- How to begin putting together your own portfolio as a stylist with no budget or contacts
Please note:
There is some overlap of course material on John William’s The Complete Stylist, Editorial Styling and Creative Direction, and this course. It is recommended that you only take one of these courses.
Beginners. You should have an interest in the subject area and a desire to learn but no previous experience is required.
