Course programme

This course responds to the ever changing demands of the textile, fashion and craft industries, focusing on sustainability, technological fabric and manufacturing developments. Guidance will be provided on portfolios, interviews, UCAS applications and employment preparation. In year 2 there will be a final major project, showcasing talent in a public exhibition. The course will begin with an exciting and comprehensive six week exploration of interests through a series of practical workshops in multiple disciplines – more detail will be given at interview.

  • Fashion: Pattern Cutting; Construction and Production; Womenswear/Menswear, Childrenswear, Bridal, Costumes, Contour Fashion, Knitwear
  • Textiles: Constructed and Multi-Media Textiles; Surface Pattern and Printing; Design for Fashion; Interiors; Soft Furnishing; Accessories; Gift-Wrap
  • Decorative Crafts: Paper-Making; Ceramics; Plaster; Wood; Metal; Fabrics and Plastic; Accessories; Packaging; Cards; Gifts and Jewellery

English and maths are an essential part of your studies and will help you succeed on your course. These subjects help you develop confidence and are key employability skills that recruiting employers look for. If you have not achieved GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths you will need to continue studying these subjects. We will ensure you have the right lessons and support to improve your English and maths.

Our full-time courses are designed to help you achieve your ambitions whether your goal is to go on to a higher level of study or whether you are looking to start a job. Therefore as part of your course there will be employability and study skills (we call these PD Central) that are included to meet your needs and those of the industry you want your career in.
