Course Description:

The Foundation Degree in Golf Performance, awarded by the University of Central Lancashire, provides the essential base knowledge and skills necessary for any aspiring golfer who wishes to work in the Golf Performance sector of the industry. The programme offers students a wonderful insight into the performance elements of elite golf. It covers all the main areas of performance enhancement that are the focus of the sports top players and that will shape the development of golf in coming years. The course provides students with a plethora of sports science related game improvement ideas. This will equip them with a holistic understanding of golf performance, which they can adopt as part of their own and fellow golfers’ performance development.

The course focuses on developing existing sports science concepts, skills, and assessment techniques required to improve golf performance. It is an extremely specialist course which places high demands on the student’s understanding of sports science and golf performance improvement strategies. Therefore, whilst not a pre-requisite it is strongly desired that students have completed a science/sports science based qualification at Further Education and possess a handicap of no higher than 4. Both will be assessed as part of the application process. To assist in the delivery of the modules and the development of students' golf skills the College has a number of fantastic facilities. These include: a 9 hole golf course, a driving range, video analysis equipment, biomechanics RS Footscan, Science & Motion putting lab, Flightscope, Trackman, K-Vest, Indoor Golf Academy, Sports Centre and Fitness Suite, putting and chipping areas, and golf simulators (including GC2).
