This course is about cultivating greater awareness of how your organise and move your upper body and integrate it with your whole self. Learn how to bring more attention to your habitual patterns of movements. Discover new movement choices resulting in more ease, flexibility, better quality of movement and coordination in daily activities as well as emotional wellbeing.

About this course

- Recognise your own behavioural and movement habits.
- Discover new ways of moving.
- Identify ways to reduce unnecessary effort or tension.
- Participate in slow movement sequences to increase mobility in chest, upper back, shoulders and neck.

The best thing to wear is comfortable and loose clothing. The movements are gentle so you need to make sure you
will be warm enough for the duration of the workshop, as your body temperature may drop.

Course programme

In this workshop you will explore the relationship between your chest, upper back, neck and shoulders. We will include functional movements like reaching, turning, standing and walking. Aside from that we will also cover the Feldenkrais principles, neuroplasticity and some basic anatomy.

This course is practical and involves guided movements and meditations, short presentations and video clips, interactive games, self observation, inquiry, discussions and small group or pair work. Suggestions for home practice will be given but there is no pressure to participate.

The Feldenkrais Method can be used to enhance your performance in activities such as dance, drama, martial arts, music, singing, pilates, yoga, work and everyday life.
