What will the course cover and how will it be taught?
You will learn how to make felt using a wet felting technique and you’ll take home a finished cushion cover, wallhanging or picture. The day will cover
Making felt using a wet felting technique
Blending fibres with carders to make your own colours
Using a resist to make a seamless piece of felt
Hanging mechanisms for felt pictures
Your tutor will discuss the course content with the class and may make some adjustments to the syllabus based on the needs of the group. They will also try to accommodate individual requirements where it is practical to do so. There will be lots of samples and books for you to look at plus each stage will be demonstrated by the tutor.
Your tutor will speak to you individually about progress and we’ll have a group session reviewing all the felt that’s been produced.

Will there be any homework and how long will it take?

What about equipment, clothing and materials?
All feltmaking equipment will be provided.
Please bring an old bath towel and sharp pair of scissors with you.
You will need to bring 4 pounds to cover the cost of fibres.
Bring a camera with you if you have one. It is useful to take photos as you go along, and to take photos of everyone else’s work. You will need to bring a packed lunch. Please also bring a pen and your glasses, if you need them.
Parking & Venue Information
The Methodist Church is located at the end of its own driveway, opposite the west gate of the C of E church. Limited parking nearby or town centre car parks (pay & display). Access through main entrance, hall is straight ahead.
