Course programme
The BA consists of a mix of compulsory and optional modules. A typical selection is provided below, although some variations may occur from year to year.
Level 1
All modules at level 1 are compulsory
- Storytelling: a mix of practice and theory in which you will engage with components of storytelling in film and TV including the construction of character, narrative, genre, editing and storyboarding
- Technology and Industry: an examination of the theory and history of film and TV technology and its relationship to industrial and institutional contexts (for example, the role of new technology in contemporary Hollywood, digitization and media convergence, multichannel TV)
- Representation and Identity: an exploration of various aspects of representation and identity in film and TV, including issues such as gender/sexuality, class, race and nation
- Creative Development: an introduction to industry practices for the design of creative ideas, including the generation of initial synopses, the presentation of ideas, promotion
