About this course

How you learn

The course is suitable if you don't meet the entry requirements for our BA (Hons) Finance and Economics course, or you want extra preparation before starting degree-level study. You share the first year with other Sheffield Business School foundation year students, then move on to the degree.This varied, enriching course allows for the study and implementation of economic and financial theory. You benefit from regular guest speakers, expert lecturers and superb facilities that stimulate discussion and facilitate great work.

Applied learning

Work placements

You will have the opportunity to incorporate a year-long work placement into your degree between the third and fourth years. This gives you real-world experience to prepare you for your future career.Placement years take place in world-leading companies, public and private sector finance departments, accountancy firms and elsewhere. Recent placements have included the HM Treasury, PwC, Oxford Economics, eON UK, GE Capital, O2 and Mercedes AMG.

Networking opportunities

With guest speakers and an optional placement year, you'll be well placed to develop a network of well-placed contacts within the finance industry.
