If you want to train as a financial economist or establish an economics foundation for broader options in the financial sector, our Financial Economics PG Diploma is an excellent choice.

Our course will help you understand the principles behind important financial decisions preparing you for a career in financial services; for handling commercial financial decisions as well as for every-day personal finances. These essential financial economics skills cover aspects of personal and professional life, including insurance, savings and investment.

This diploma course is intended as a bridge between your first degree and postgraduate study and can lead to entry onto the MSc Scottish Graduate Programme in Economics (Financial Economics). It is a particularly good fit if you’ve previously only had limited experience of economics but wish to study financial economics at postgraduate level.

Dundee’s Economics department is rated among Britain’s top 10 by The Guardian (2016), and the University is considered the best in Scotland by some of the most influential Higher Education surveys. The Economic Studies team are all actively engaged in research and draw on this work in their teaching. Many of the modern debates which students will be considering are those in which their teachers have made an active contribution.

We welcome students from the UK and elsewhere in the world to its stimulating, supportive, friendly and well-organised campus. All economics students are invited to our Business Society which arranges an event calendar, annual ball and career presentations from institutions such as the Government Economic Service, the Scottish Executive and the Bank of England.
