Through painterly experimentation and exploration of visual semiotics you will investigate the techniques and approaches at your disposal as an artist, to best communicate your concept with intent. You will learn that a painter has the power to convey ideas and emotions or construct a narrative through composition, scale, colour and texture. Representation goes far beyond a simple resemblance of a person, an object or a scene – gain confidence in your ideas take control of how your paintings are read by the viewer.
Course Outcomes
By the end of the course you will have a ‘toolkit’ of techniques which will help advance your painting practice and an understanding of how to represent an idea using visual symbols and artistic expression to intentionally influence your viewer.
